Hey Solid Rock!
My name is Nolan Cason, and I'm the new college and youth pastor!  I just wanted to introduce myself, and share a little bit about my passion for students.

A little bit about me:
I'm a born and raised Oregonian.  I grew up in Portland, and then moved south to Salem in 2011 to attend Corban University.  While working on my Bachelor's and Master's degrees, I had been working in youth ministry part time at a local church in Salem.  Through this experience, the Lord blessed me with a  strong desire to work intensively with a group of students, helping them to grow to know Him and grow together as a community.  I am very thankful and incredibly excited that the Lord has provided me that opportunity through Solid Rock!

The teenage years are critical in regards to spiritual develpment.  These are the years in which our faith becomes our own, as we begin to cement our identity and world views.  My goal is to equip our students to become thriving disiples of Christ, as we have fun together, and we grow to know Jesus better and worship Him together.  The other leaders and I are going to invest in our students, seeking to love them and pour into them, in following the example of Jesus with the disciples.

To the parents of our youth:
As a youth pastor, I consider myself a servant to parents.  I work for you, as well as the students.  I'm a big believer that most of growth in faith occurs in the home (Deut. 6:6-9) and I can work to supplement and build upon what parents are already doing with their kids.  This represents the ideal, and while the ideal is not always realized, I just want to make it clear that I want to work dililgently with parents as part of this ministry.  My goal is to keep everyone informed with weekly emails concerning what is being taught on Sundays, as well as events.  I can be reached at, so please contact me with the best email address by which I can reach you.  Thanks so much, and I'm praying for you and your family.

In Him,
Nolan Cason
